EmergEd
The Emergence of Global Non-Governmental Spaces in Education Non-Governmental Organizations and the Global Turn in Education
What is EmergEd
EmergEd is a project which seeks to study global transnational spaces where different actors and organisations engage to change the present and future of education. The project seeks to answer some of the following questions:
- How do non-governmental organizations (NGOs) impact education systems globally?
- What are the key transnational networks formed by NGOs in the field of education?
- In what ways do NGOs fill gaps in education left by governmental withdrawals?
- How do social relations and communication flows within transnational NGOs influence their effectiveness in shaping education?
Project Overview and Goals
The EmergEd project is a pioneering initiative aimed at unraveling the influence of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on global education. As we embark on this transformative journey, our interdisciplinary research team, led by Prof. Dr. Nina Kolleck, is dedicated to shedding light on the dynamic interactions and networks shaping education systems worldwide. Our goals are:
- Understand Global NGO Impact: Explore how NGOs influence education policies and systems on a global scale.
- Bridge Knowledge Gaps: Address the lack of comprehensive research on transnational NGO networks in the education sector.
- Innovative Methodology: Develop and apply an innovative interdisciplinary methodology combining Social Network Analysis (SNA) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) for a holistic understanding.
- Contribute to Theory Building: Contribute new insights to theories surrounding educational achievement, equal opportunities, and the role of NGOs in shaping education.
